The kids' had their Primary Program and it was wonderful! Kind of strange to only have two in that age category this year. The theme was all about the Book of Mormon, as this was the year we studied that for Come, Follow Me at home, church, and seminary. The kids both gave a talk on their favorite story/prophet from the BofM. Covey spoke on the tree of life. He told me most of what to write, helped a bit.
"My favorite story from the Book of Mormon is probably Lehi’s dream of the Tree of Life. We read it, watched the Book of Mormon video of it, drew pictures of it and did the virtual reality on a tablet when we studied it this year. I like it because the dream is cool and Lehi was a good man. When his family was in the wilderness, Lehi had a dream where he saw a tree with white fruit. He ate the fruit and it filled him with great joy. He asked his family to come try the fruit and some would, others wouldn’t. They had to hold to an iron rod to get to the tree. Some of his kids and his wife and others made it to the tree to tasted the fruit. Some fell off and got lost in the mist of darkness and the dirty river or went to the great and spacious building. We need to have faith in God and get on the path, read our scriptures and hold to the rod, not worry about what the world says, and keep the commandments so we can taste the goodness of God’s love for us."
He was so nervous before but we prayed and Lucy helped coach him during the program. Then he played "I Will be Valiant" and i played a duet part with hm. He did a great job and acted not nervous at all! He tapped his foot a bit and made a few silly facial expressions, but that's just Cov! Lucy talked about Abinidi. She wrote her talk all by herself. "Abinidi is my favorite prophet. I like him because he was not afraid to stand alone and he also was brave to go up against the king and he respected and trusted in the Lord. He also was kind to everyone when everyone else was rude to him. He was teaching to the people in a kingdom when the guards caught him preaching apparently the wrong way. He was then brought before the king, who found him guilty, but Abinidi kept preaching even when they told him to stop. Abinidi is really my favorite prophet because he was very kind and faithful and he trusted in God. I can be like Abinidi by doing what’s right even when no one else is."
Then she played a couple of piano songs like a pro. They sang some other songs about the BofM and principles taught within. They and their Primary friends Hank, June, Ollie and Dreygan sang and spoke with such spirit, there was a strong feeling in the room that the words they sung were true. I love seeing their budding testimonies and they help ours grow, too! I am thankful for the opportunity we've been able to have our own Come, Follow Me lessons and singing time at home. It has been a huge blessing for us all!
As we were getting Lucy into bed tonight and we were talking about the program and the Book of Mormon, she said she thought it no coincidence that we are studying the Book of Mormon this year. So true and how we need it!
