As a family, stayed home a lot as we all have. Some days it has been a challenge but most days we have loved this change of pace. It has been a blessing and reminded us of what is most important. Finished up our yard and all landscaping, yay! Visited Craters of the Moon, Utah, and Thermopolis, WY and did some local camping. Got to have several visitors this year and loved seeing them all! Almost done with our Children and Youth goals this year and thankful for that program, which encourages us become more like the Savior.

Hope your season and upcoming year shines bright and leads you more to the Light of the World, like that first Christmas star!

Love, the Ryerses

Don't look back...Callahan turned 12!

We had a wonderful time celebrating Cal's 12th!  Can't believe he's at that age already.  We slept in, yay for birthdays on Saturdays!  Then Dave went and got donuts for breakfast, Cal loves him some donuts!  Then we played around, did some video games and TV, read, and then we were off to Billings. We took Cal's friend Hank with us to the skate park, also a skateboard enthusiast. This was our first time there.  There were quite a few people there, but they were all really respectful and watched out for our kids.  We brought some scooters and skateboards and they all had a blast! At first, the kids were a little hesitant, but then they really got into it.  Cal couldn't get enough and he and Hank asked if we could go weekly.  After the skate park, we headed to the Burger Dive for dinner.  Cal's favorite is "burger hams", and so we got there and had fun talking about why we love Cal while we waited for our burgers. He's a special kid! We dove in and ate and then had to hit a store to grab a few grocery items. Then we came back home and played a few games. We did a design a skateboard deck contest.  Cal did a Shrek one, Emma did a Peppa Pig in flames, Lucy made a watermelon, Cov did some cool designs, Sydnie's were scribbles, and Hank did a bunch of random color bubbles.  The kids got some finger skateboards that they were playing with.  Then we opened presents. The highlight of Cal's gifts was a didgerydoo, which was from us and Grandma Di & Grandpa Scott. He was so excited but couldn't keep playing because he was laughing so hard.  By the end of the night, he had some good sound down and we were looking up videos on how to play better.  We had cake and ice cream next. We made a skateboard cake with his name on it.  Some of the kids helped me and it turned out pretty well, but the rice krispy wheels were too heavy and kept falling off.  We sang to Cal, Hank was like "what?" when we all sang crazy but he was laughing pretty hard. We ate the sweets and then we ended the night by watching some skateboard X-Games.  It was a "sick" time celebrating our Cal!  Don't look back is a term used by skaters, and I think it applies here. It's fun to look back, but also exciting to look to the future and what it holds for this great kid!

Cal is so funny!  He has a great sense of humor.

Recently, made some YouTube videos under the name Epic Singlet Boi. He wears his singlet and does a crazy version of the conga, does weird dances and music and such.

Callahan is a very grateful boy.  He always tells me "thanks for dinner, Mom!" or "thanks for doing my laundry, Mom!" I told him maybe it's because he was born around Thanksgiving.

He is definitely getting that pre-teen attitude and thinks he knows best about everything.

Enjoys spending time with his friends.  They recreate Star Wars battles with light sabers, ride bikes or skateboard, play Roblox or Minecraft, play football, jump on the tramp, make up games with balls or other sports equipment.

Is a good brother.  Likes to pound on his brother Cov from time to time but is working on being nicer to him.  He plays really well with his siblings and he and Emma have a strong friendship.  He is also very good to Sydnie and takes great care of her.

Callahan is doing a great job honoring his Priesthood. He passes the sacrament with such dignity and reverence, we are proud of him. We just got him a real suit and he is very excited to go the temple for the first time.  Our temple was closed for cleaning, then opened up for two weeks but booked before the pandemic hit and closed. Something to look forward to!
