The kids made their valentine boxes. Emma was a little sad those days were done. But the kids were sweet to share some of their goods with her. Callahan recycled and made a Rubix cube box with his leftover scrap paper from his Halloween costume. Lucy recycled a Christmas candy bucket and made a cat one with her leftover valentines and box and Jazzy's cat food boxes, haha! Covey made his at school, they made cute little Valentine monster bags. So cute! I like how here, most the teachers leave it up to families if they want to make their own boxes or they can make them at school.
I was able to go to Callahan's class for his party. I was the committee chair for the party and I made up a Truth or Dare valentine's game for his class. There were tnouths like "What's the best candy to get on Valentine's Day?", "What's your favorite thing about your Dad/Mom/Parent or Guardian?" ,"What was the best Valentine box you ever made and what it look like?" etc. Then the dares were things like drinking Love potion no. 9 as quick as they could, making up We had some class Dares, like make cards that we would take to the hospital patients, playing "Honey, if you love me, smile", take a class selfie and make up a poem for the teacher that starts "Roses are Red, Violets are Blue...", act like a cupid flying down the hall with a bow and arrow. The kids laughed a lot and had so much fun. Many of them gave me hugs and told me thanks for coming. Cal had a good time and kept giving me hugs too and was a stud to carry my stuff out to the car afterwards.
Back at home, Sydnie and I snuggled up, read some books, and finished up preparations for our Valentine's party. When the kids arrived home, they looked through their valentine containers and ate more candy than they should've. Emma was bummed she really did nothing to celebrate Valentine's Day. The joys of growing up. Just another day. The other kids were kind to share with her without me even asking. The best thing Cal got was a painted ceramic "flying taco" from one of his friends. Some of the kindergarten moms went all out but the verdict was in: Fun Dips are the easiest Valentines around and such a hit. I should know because they were all over our floor and even got on the piano... Anyways, our family date this year was a "Wild About You" theme. We had snake Philly cheese steak sandwiches, lion veggie tray, swamp water punch, and then for dessert, we had jungle white chocolate dirt cups. We talked about all kinds of things during dinner. I won't talk about the times when kids complained and whined and I had to go to my room to cool off so I wouldn't snap at anyone. Oh and I won't talk about the two juice and one food spill either. After dinner, we played an animal matching game. I made some matching cards that had animals on one set of cards and facts about these animals and some mushy love stuff about the species and we had to match them up. I learned a lot and the kids did really well figuring out who. Examples were penguins - this male animal looks all around for the perfect pebble to present as a gift to express its admiration for the female. After the female lays an egg, the male keeps it warm between his feet and the female goes hunting and prepares for the arrival of their new baby. Halfway through though, the kids just wanted to wrestle and play. Sometimes I don't know why I go to such effort, but it is best I've learned to just go with the flow! ;) Then we did some toilet paper tube sticker animals. The kids really got into that and Sydnie even had fun putting stickers on and being with Daddy. Finally, we had these little books I made where everyone filled out for each other what they though each others spirit animals were and why and then they drew pictures. Lots of love, laughter and coming together which is how I like these valentine dates to turn out. We got going with some natural gas jokes and everyone was laughing so hard they were crying!!
Sydnie - Giraffe because she always acts like one (Cov). Cheetah because she's crazy and always wants c-a-n-d-y. Monkey because she's crazy and always moving (Emma - Em also used to call her monkey baby because she said she looked like a monkey when she was younger). Monkey because shes's crazy, funny and cute (Mom). Sugar beet because candy is her friend (Dad).
Coverton - Calf because he seems like one (Lucy). Baby cub because he's playful (Cal). Gorilla because he's fierceish (Emma). Tiger because he's ferocious, strong, kind (Mom). Wolverine because he likes to run around (Dad).
Lucy - Chicken because she likes to rock and roll (Cov). Seagull because she is repetitive and sometimes annoying (Emma - this was supposed to be nice we said!). Parrot - colorful personality and fun to listen to. Butterfly because she likes to have vivid dreams and imagination (Dad).
Cal - Snake because he slithers like a snake (Cov). Snake because he's full of energy (Lucy). Squirrel - they are annoying and quick and hyper (Emma - stinker!), Panther because he's quick, full of energy and loyal (Mom). Velocer Raptor because he has razor teeth and eats lots of food (Dad).
Emma - Owl because she's smart (Cov). Leopard because she acts like one (Lucy). John Cena because I feel like it (Cal). Pink flamingo because she's talented, bold, and kind (Mom). Main Coon cat because she likes to attack her family members (Dad).
Mom - Tiger because she's nice, calm (Cov). Duck because she likes yellow (Lucy). Sloth because I feel like it (Cal). Robin cause they're pretty like you (Emma - way to make me cry, sweet girl!). Llama because I need more llamas in my life (Dad).
Dad - Lion because he's strong (Lucy). Lion King of the Jungle because he's the boss of the house (Cal). Pickle because he likes pickles (Emma or Farts, hehehe! This was an inside joke from a couple Valentine's Days ago). Gorilla because he's hairy, hunky and dominates (Mom).
We are going to get the kids a membership to the Zoo here, so that should be fun. We read some books about animals and love like "Hug, Hug", "Kiss, Kiss", "The Yummiest Love", etc. Then the kids went to bed and Dave and I exchanged gifts. He got my a gyro frog instrument (I've been starting to collect random little instruments like that) and a cute little note about the frog...he's always said he's my frog prince, cute boy! I got him a Nintendo store e-card so he can pick out a game, some Super Ropes licorice and made him a card (not the best since I had a baby on my lap for most of it, haha! And I meant to write "We make a SUPER team" but I was so tired and just wrote "great") which made him smile. Then we talked and snuggled and enjoyed a quiet night. It was an adventurous day with lots of wild memories.

We started out grocery shopping (always romantic, I know), then got our oil changed (even steamier), and then out to dinner at Tao New Asian. It was super tasty and we enjoyed being together. And the chandelier was fun. We were headed to the temple next, but got a call from our babysitter saying Sydnie had just vomited. No! So we headed back early to be with the poor babe. I love my handsome man.
