Another little raccoon

So we announced it to family the end of December and a few friends have figured it out...time to make it known to the world!

We're adding one last Ryerse raccoon to our den! The little rascal is due August 6, 2017. Many already know, but it's not official until it's on social media, right? ;)

We went to another appointment with an ultrasound this week, and now that we have pictures of the little babe, we decided it was time to announce it.  Dave got this idea about 2 years ago when he went to San Antonio and got everyone 'coonskin caps plus an extra.  The kids were so excited because our family mascot, thanks to Ryerse family reunions and the fun shirts Grandma Carol made, has always been the raccoon.  They love dressing up in them.  He thought it would be fun to have us all wear them for a picture to announce it and then do something with the seventh to show we're expecting.  So this was all Dave's thinking, and I think it turned out kind of fun. We drove to the field down the street and took these.  Not perfect, someone's always closing their eyes or forgot their raccoon hat (Dave! haha!) or looking away, but it's us.  Lucy said she had an idea that when the camera starts flashing and it was time to say "cheese", instead we'd say if we thought it was a boy or girl.  Everyone but Dave yelled out "girl!"  So funny, we'll see!

We're not going to find out the gender, in fact at our ultrasound, they turned the screen away a few times so we couldn't tell.  So it will be a fun surprise!  The ultrasound was good, this baby was photogenic, the tech said.  She told us it would take 45-60 minutes, but we were done in 20 minutes.  Everything looks healthy and good and for that we are thankful!  It was incredible seeing the little one moving around and the miracle that is life.  I got tears in my eyes because I am so thankful for the process and for a good start to their little life (maybe the hormones helped, too).  Cov was fascinated and kept asking what everything was.  He asked to see the "bellycal cord" and the x-ray techs were so impressed he knew that and by how much he was talking about and knew.  Though Cov did keep commenting that the baby looked a little creepy "like a skeleton".  We've been reading some books lately about what growing fetus' look like.  So he thought it was pretty cool and he enjoyed listening to the heart beat again, which sounded like a helicopter in his book.

The kids are in wonder at how my belly seems to grow just a bit bigger each day and they ask lots of questions.  We are all excited for August (or earlier...) to come so we can meet the last addition to our family!
