What a ride - Covey's 9!

We celebrated our Covey's birthday and boy what a day it was!  Cov woke up early, showered and was ready to go. He had been counting down his birthday for months and asked Alexa how many days until his birthday almost every day. Dave had a memory pop up on his phone that morning with Cov opening his mouth baby bird style. Cov re-enacted that picture and looked up at us with his big eyes and opened his mouth. He is so hilarious and just cracks me up! He was excited to wake up to some decorations in his room and out in the main living areas. That morning, we made breakfast burritos, hung out for a bit, looked at his baby book, then decorated his cake. The kids helped do some too. It was fun to put together and really didn't take long. Cov decided he wanted to go to Lagoon for his birthday but we decided to go on Monday after his birthday, as the weekends are always packed. It's a good thing we planned that because the people bringing our landscaping rock/gravel called and said they were ready to bring a load that day. And since we had been on the waiting list for months, we couldn't risk waiting for months more. So we unloaded and raked rock all day long. Cov helped for quite a while, but we told him and the youngers to go play. So they spent lots of time on the tramp we just set up, inside watching shows, and playing indoors. He was a champ and so patient even though he could've complained a lot that it ruined his birthday. When we finally cleaned up and went to dinner, it was late - 8 p.m. and he chose to go to Artic Circle. These kiddos love that place. We all told Cov what we loved about him - some said he's funny, he's cool to hang out with, he plays nice, he is kind, he cares about others, and he is brave. When we got home, we opened presents - he got a Razor Rip Rider trike that he and the other kids have been loving. We had some games planned, like theme park type of games, but we never even got time to do them. So the days following, we played darts (that was a hit!), knock the cans over, etc. Covey was so sweet all day and kept thanking everyone for making his birthday so great and giving us all hugs. He is a great kid! Monday, we got to go to Lagoon all day and stayed from opening to closing. Steven our cousin got to join us all day as he was visiting for the week from Michigan. Cov is a roller coaster enthusiast and was tall enough to go on every ride now and went on the ones that were super scary to many. We had a great day and I was sick by the end of the day. ;p  We had a blast though! The best time was when we all got drenched on Rattle Snake rapids we were laughing so hard. Glad we celebrated the way we did, it all worked out.

You Light Up My Life - Happy 17th Anniversary!

Happy 17th anniversary to my light of my life! We had a nice day. We had work and kids stuff, but snuck in a picnic lunch by the river. Dave sent me a beautiful bouquet and I got him some lamps for our room with USB chords. We watched our wedding video with the kids and looked at our wedding albums, like we do each year. Dave is a foot taller than me and not only do I look up to him physically, I look up to him in so many ways. I am thankful for the light you carry with you always!
