My birthday felt like an extension of Christmas break this year. The kids went back to school on Monday, but Wednesday, they had an emergency early out before noon due to the amounts of snow falling. So we had the rest of the week off because they needed to clear out the snow. The roads all closed here except for emergencies for a couple of days. It just kept dumping! So by the time my birthday rolled around, we had lots of snow and the roads were clear, but school was still cancelled. I made cinnamon rolls for breakfast (I've learned to just do what makes you happy, don't wait around for others to make your birthday happy...it's your day!). After we finished homework, practicing (I even got my flute out and just played songs for fun which is a treat because I don't have lots of time to do that), and chores, we went outside to have some fun in the snow, which was good packing snow finally. Then we had some lunch and hot chocolate to warm up and did some reading. Then we headed to the park to go sledding. We have an epic sledding here by the hospital. We had a lot of fun sledding and sliding down the hill, rolling snow boulders down, making ramps, and laughing together. I did fly off and barrel roll once and my glasses even went shooting off (which the kids are still talking about). In the middle of us being there, one of the kids mentioned it was my birthday and Sydnie got a shocked look and said "Wait!? It's your birthday TODAY?" We all got a good giggle. Soon after we got home, Amy, Kolby, Boji and Kanon got to our house and the kids played while we all visited. We had some pizza from next door for dinner, which was yummy! Anytime I don't have to cook it's yummy, right? Callahan said the prayer and thanked Heavenly Father that I was born on that day and for all I do for them. Sweet! Then the kids played some Mario Cart, and Sydnie played with Kanon, and then we went over to the swimming pool to swim. Emma was life guarding and this was the first time we'd seen her in action. There were lots of kids there as there was a birthday party going on. We all enjoyed splashing and playing (except the Dads, they decided to just shoot the breeze and not get in the pool, which was kind of cold). When we got home, we had some cheesecake and ice-cream and we used matches for candles because Dave thought we had candles but I didn't so he improvised. We opened presents next, the kids all made some really cute things and Dave a cute card and clock I had been wanting. I also had a few cards from other family members to open. Lots of texts, calls and Facebook messages came through during the day as well. I am thankful for the love of my family and friends! The next day, Dave and I were able to finally get reservations for the Star Valley temple where we did iniatories and an endowment session. Yay! Maybe sliding into this 37th year won't be so bad. ;)
