Emma's Annual Summer Trip to Utah

Emma got to stay a week in Utah in July. She headed home with Grandma & Grandpa after the Fourth, then stayed with Mark, Mayela and Amber. She and Amber and Grandma had fun baking, making crafts (their favorite was painting vinyl and pioneer bonnets), and they discussed women and insights in the Old Testament. They went to Logan next to stay at Amber's house and talked, drew, went shopping and more. Em always looks forward to this time and it's great that she gets to do it!

Coverton's First Swing at Baseball

Coverton decided he wanted to start baseball this summer. This is new to us as none of our kids have ever been interested. At first, it was a rough start. He wanted to stay in the car or on the sidelines during practice, having panic attacks and was so worried. His coaches and team mom, Brandon Tueller, Danielle Fox, and Jenn Benson were great to work with him and we listened to him and encouraged him. But after he got going, we've heard and seen nothing but great things. He always wants to play catch, get to his games and practices early, and has a blast. His coaches say he's one of their best players and his friends all say he's a beast. He was so worried he wouldn't be able to do it, but he's got a good arm, a good catch and a good swing. He had one game with three home runs! Baseball is pretty big here and his team was fun, it's a co-ed team with several ages. Covey also started counseling to help the anxiety. He sees a wonderful counselor who works with children and she's been fabulous in giving him tools to help deal with this. We are proud of him for sticking with it and for all of the progress he's making in baseball and life! Play ball!

Young Mens & Bighorn Basin Football Camps for Callahan

Callahan had a busy June! The week after FSY, he got to go to Aaronic Priesthood Young Men's camp. They went up to Fontanelle and camped, fished, played games, went on sunrise hikes, helped prepare and eat food, and had some spiritual experiences. He really enjoyed being with all the boys, getting dirty, and strengthening his testimony.

The next week, he got to go to the Big Horn Basin Football Camp up in Thermopolis. They had 343 participants there this year and local college coaches coming out to teach the kids. They had team building, lots of 7 on 7, skills and drills and went river rafting. They got to camp right by the field, so that was fun. Cal came home with a massive blistering sunburn on his shoulders/back because he kept getting put on the shirtless teams. He swore he put on sunscreen but it wasn't enough. Poor guy! He learned a lot and used his manners and told me he told all of the coaches thank you who came to help. But he had a great experience and can't wait to go back next year! We'll just make sure we get more sunscreen going next time.
