The night before her birthday, we made the cake. Lucy and Cov helped some too. We made a candy cake in her favorite colors, blue and pink! It was a funfetti pound cake with buttercream and a chocolate ganache drip on top. Decorated with sprinkles, shiny sixlets and suckers. She was so excited when she saw it and kept going to look at it all day and after the party tried to go sneak more candy off it.
The morning of her birthday, she slept in while the kids helped me decorate. We made some giant suckers out of pool noodles, wrapping paper rolls we painted white, cellophane and ribbon, and we put up some other easy candy looking decorations and banner and a few other cutesy items we had around the house. When Sydnie woke up, the kids wished her a happy birthday, and then they spoiled her all day! They were so cute and asked her what she wanted to do about everything, since it was her special day. We played with babies, read some books and looked at her baby pictures, went to the park to have a picnic and play, hung out with Daddy on his lunch break, went on a drive, took a nap, went to cheer Cal Cal on at his soccer game, and then it was time for the party!
We had a power outage in the afternoon before her party. Luckily, we were just doing cake and ice-cream so it worked out. She had a couple of her little friends come, Katelyn with her parents, Alya and her family, and neighbor Callie. We started out by letting the kids make candy necklaces with gummy ring types of candies and the olders helped the youngers, of course. Then, they could make pipe cleaner suckers, some of the older girls really liked that. The kids each got a bag to put their names on and decorate with scented stickers. Then we did a gummy bear find in rice. They liked that and it was huge mess but so worth it. After that, it was the Gum Drop drop game. They each had 5 gum drops and a cup and were supposed to put the gumdrops on their nose and drop them in a cup. We played a sucker ring toss where we had suckers on the ground and the kids were given diving rings and whichever suckers they landed the rings on they got to keep. We also had a jellybean dash game and candy musical chairs, but never got to that. The kids were having too much fun playing, and that was fun. We had cake and ice-cream. Sydnie picked out her own ice cream at the store "This one!" she proudly said, pointing to mint chocolate chip and then Neapolitan. Grandma and Grandpa Ryerse called and she talked to them. All day when anyone would wish her a happy birthday, she'd say back to them "Happy birthday!" Grandma and Grandpa Stoddard and Emma (who is staying with them) did some video chatting with us so they could see Sydnie eat some cake and join us for part of the party. Then it was present time! She got a baby doll, a Fancy Nancy doll, bubbles from Cov, a little pig from Lucy, a ball from Cal, and a pool and her baby book that I made from us. She loved everything and gave hugs to everyone. When we were cleaning up a bit, I looked over and Sydnie was picking the candies off her cake, yum! Can never have too much cake on your birthday, right? It was a sweet day all around!
All About Sydnie at 2
Sydnie loves, loves, loves, loves her siblings! She sometimes wants them to do things for her that she won't let me do - like change her, get her dressed, comb her hair, etc. "No, Emma help you!" or "Woosie do it!" or "Cal Cal change you!" or "Covey brush my hair!" They willingly oblige and it is so sweet to see! Emma is a huge help with her. Cal Cal, as she has always called him, is so good with her. Lucy is a great friend to her. And Covey and Sydnie are definitely siblings! Their bond is so special. Sydnie even dreams about them. One night she was sleep talking and clearly dreaming about Covey. It started out with her saying "No, Covey!" and then she was laughing and saying "Oh Covey" and then she said "Hug Covey".
Quite the singer! She loves singing "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam", "Happy Birthday", "Tiny Turtle", "The Wheels on the Bus", "The Ants go Marching", "I am a Child of God" and more.
Gave herself her first haircut a week before her birthday. She loves cutting with kid scissors and has always kept them on the paper. But she said "Mommy, hair!" and I looked up and she had cut a chunk right at the front of her hairline to the scalp! So we are getting creative to conceal that.
Loves giving hugs and getting hugs and snuggling. Sweetie!
Lately has been a little clingy onto Mom. I love it, but sometimes when she won't let go of me for a long period of time and won't go to anyone else, it does get a little tiring.
She can talk up a storm and can communicate very well, including sentences. Her latest words she likes to say "mannequin" and "caterpillar".
Likes to sort and dump and make lots of fun messes.
Is a free spirit and doesn't really like wearing clothes. Tries to strip down to her diaper (or less) so we keep onesie type shirts on when we can.

She is very stubborn and loves saying "NO!" She will scream lately to get what she wants. When she gets really mad and is having a tantrum, she will jump up and land flat on her bottom hard.
Is a very silly girl and says "I a tease" or "I a teaser!" or "I funny!"
Overall, just a sweet girl with lots of spunk and a little sass!
