This year Mother's Day was really nice. It kind of felt like heaven because everyone is trying really hard to be good and kind and I get to relax. I am blessed with a special family. It got me thinking, is this what heaven feels like?
Speaking of heaven, I have been thinking about Mother in Heaven a lot. I found this from Bitsy Creations a while back and thought it to be very interesting. As I prayed on Mother's Day and thanked Heavenly Father for my mom who is so amazing there are no words and the gratitude felt is great, mother-in-law, grandmas, aunts, sisters and sister-in-laws, teachers, friends, sisters from the Church, neighbors and more who have had an impact on me, I also thanked God for a Heavenly Mother. I have a feeling we've inherited many of our innate qualities from her and that she does lots of behind the scenes work for us. We hear all the time behind every good man stands an even greater woman, and I feel that our Father in Heaven has a pretty amazing one at His side.

The day before Mother's Day, it was cute because the kids were hiding and planning and when I'd get around them, they'd tell me to go relax and run so I didn't hear any of the surprises they were planning. They were making gifts and cards and sneaking around, so sweet!
On Mother's Day, I slept in (doesn't happen often at all) and the kids and Dave made a yummy french toast and strawberries and bacon for breakfast and brought it to me while I was in bed. Even Emma was awake before me, that's a miracle! It was tasty and sweet, and they even cleaned up after themselves (with lots of prodding from Dad). Then we got dressed and went to church. Both of the speakers did a great job and I loved their emphasis that mothers aren't perfect, but the mothers we have are perfect for us. The Primary kids (minus Sydnie, she refused to go, haha!) sang "Mother I Love You" and I got to accompany them. Always the best part of a meeting when those sweet little ones get up and sing. Later on in Primary, it was quite a rough day and some of the kids crying and throwing fits all through Junior Primary, which is how it is somedays and you got to roll with the punches, but the spirit was strong in senior primary. We ended with "I Will Walk with Jesus" and all of the kids felt that spirit. What a blessing to be in there to help these ones learn to committ to follow Him! When we got home, the kids were going to make soup and salad for lunch when the power went off for a couple of hours. So we went to plan B and had sandwiches instead. Then we opened presents. The kids gave some really cute things. Sydnie made a hand flower arrangement, Covey made a tile with his picture and him blowing kisses and made a bunch of certificates for massages, Lucy made a cute flower arrangement for me (she was on her own, no more school help) and it was so cute, Callahan played some songs on his bass guitar for me, and Emma made me a bracelet with all of our family's birthstones on them. Dave always does sweet things and got a bunch of my favorite foods and wrote a funny and cute poem that went with it. Love them all! Then we played a game with M&Ms, Sydnie and Emma gave some to me where we go around and take an M&M and each had a task to do like give Mom a hug, tell Mom something she's good at (luckily Sydnie told me I was good at vacuuming, lol!), what you appreciate her for, etc. Then I watched Music and the Spoken Word while Cov and Sydnie gave me a long massage. We video chatted with family and it was so great to get to talk to my own Mom and also my dad, Mark, Mayela and Amber. I was bummed we couldn't go down but Dave was on call and we had lots going on the weekend of. I am so grateful for my Mom! Words don't describe how much she means to me or I could never tell all she's done for me or estimate her impact on my life. I played the piano next for a bit. Then we played Chatter Matters, one of our favorites. I even won, which never happens! Since the power went out, our dinner in the slow cooker was behind, so I let them have dessert first, which they were excited about! We had a yummy turtle ice cream cake Dave got. And then for dinner, we had beef roast, potatoes, carrots, salad, and rolls. They all cleaned up and then we talked with the Ryerses. I am also thankful for my Mom Sue who raised such a great husband and father and has been nothing but good to me. It was such a nice day that felt like heaven! One day a year, I'll take it.
