We got to celebrate Callahan turning 13 early with family in Utah, which was a request he had right after we moved here. We went to Nickel Mania arcade with those in the extended fam who could make it, so we had Grandma Di & Grandpa Scott, Mark & Mayela and Amber, Jeff & Shirley, Erin & Randy, Julie & Todd and kids, and our family. We had a blast! Played all the arcade games and the little ones did the ride ons. They got some fun prizes with their tickets - Cal was especially excited about his comb that looked like a pocket knife. We all sang to him and had donuts there, per Cal's request, along with some other junk food he likes. He got some fun gifts from family - $13 because he is 13, some cash, a bunch of WSU swag, and a Gabb watch from us. We also got some Little Ceasars, also what he wanted and watched some college football.
Sunday was Callahan's real birthday. We woke up and made him funfetti Oreo waffles for breakfast, taking it to him in bed and singing happy birthday to him. Then we got ready for and went to church. It was good of course. Then that afternoon, Callahan got to be a witness at a baptism for a friend who has been taking missionary lessons and decided to get baptized. The Elders called the night before and said Tucker wanted Callahan to be one of his witnesses. So that was pretty cool! I also got to do a musical number on my flute. It was a great baptism service! A couple weeks after his birthday, Cal was asked to be a witness again at another young man's baptism. He sure is a good example! When we got home, we played games and played Mario Olympics, so everyone liked that. He got a couple more things (his Gabb watch was the main one) like a Harry Potter Lego set and a Darth Vader shirt. We had chicken cordon bleu for dinner, yum! When we went around the dinner table to tell Cal why we loved him, Cov talked about all of the cool things Cal likes, Emma said she likes to spend time with him and enjoys when they do stupid things together, Lucy said she likes hanging out with him and loved when he took her to his tribe area, Sydnie says she likes playing tickle robot with him, I love that he is a good example - even just today when he got to be a witness of a kid who he didn't know a lot but has had an impact on, his good sportsmanship, his example to his siblings, and to Dave & I. Dave talked about how he likes seeing how he tries so hard to do his best, how he enjoys seeing his creativity, and joked about all of Cal's "girlfriends". We finished the day off playing and doing our Come, Follow Me lesson, building Legos he got, and hanging out. He's a pretty great kid and even though he's a teenager, he's not so bad. Game on! We have two teenagers in the house now. :)
