We fit in three birthday parties in two weeks. Woohoo! Lots of packing and partying going on here. Emma really wanted to celebrate her birthday with friends before we left. Last year we were going to do this and ordered lots of the stuff for it, but then we got quarantined and weren't able to do it. So before we took off, Emma wanted to party with her closest friends. Emily, Alyssa, Carlie and Ashlyn were all able to make it. She picked a Harry Potter theme, as she and all of her friends (except Alyssa) are obsessed with Harry Potter everything. Emma made the cute Hedwig invitations and delivered them all, her friends were delighted. She also made lots of the decorations and helped do a lot herself. First, they had to come through Platform 9 3/4 (Emma sponge painted a white tablecloth we put over the door). We had a HP origami book out and so they tinkered with that a bit. Then we made wands. They got to choose wood dowels and decorate them with hot glue, cord, and then paint them. We did lots of artsy stuff, because that is what Emma loves. Then we had all the girls put on the sorting hat and had them take a quiz on which house they belong to. Once they found out, we gave them a pair of cute socks with their house on it. After that, we ate dinner with all kinds of themed food of course. Next, it was Mad Libs time. They filled in some blanks and read their stories to each other, giggling along the way. We joked Sydnie was Umbridge, as she had a pink dress on and was teasing everyone. We had herbology next and the girls got to decorate terra cotta pots to put some plants in. Some did random things, some decorated it with their favorite HP quotes, they were creative and cute. Next we sang and had cake & ice cream. Emma made the whole cake all by herself - from the fondant and frosting and decorating! Yay, Em! She's getting really good! It was such a help that she could do so much, as it's been crazy around here. We opened presents and Emma got some very thoughtful things, and some sweet notes with inside jokes and kind words in them. Last we painted our nails in the house colors and with HP nail stickers, they were pretty cute! It was a great night! Lots of big hugs on her way out. The girls all couldn't believe we were leaving and said how much they'd miss Emma's kindness, humor, and help with homework. We gave all of her friends a goody bag with what they had made, a golden snitch candy, Bertie Botts every flavored Beans, and some stickers. They all said farewells. "We're with you, whatever happens!" Ron said in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Though we are leaving, glad Emma has finally found her place here and the girls make plans to stay in touch and be there for each other. I sure hope so!
On Emma's real birthday, we woke up early for early morning seminary. Emma has been doing great waking up on time and I am impressed! I made peach English scones for breakfast and we snarfed and headed out the door. Many teachers wished her a happy birthday, and in turn, the kids did too. Emma said she was a little embarrassed as she doesn't really like the spotlight, but it was nice that a few knew it was her day. Sydnie and I picked her up for lunch and we headed to Arctic Circle for lunch. After that, she had more school. After school, we picked her up and she messaged back and forth on her phone with friends and family members and played some games. We looked at her baby book. Sydnie just kept saying "Emma was such a cute baby!" We had hamburgers and all the things for dinner. Around the table, Lucy said she loves that Emma has sleepovers with her and hangs out with her, Cal said he loves that she goes along with all of his antics, Sydnie said she was nice and plays with her. I said I love that she does so much quiet good without expecting fanfare. Dad said she is creative, caring, and consistent. And Cov said she .... She is so loved by us all! Then she talked to family members on the phone, we played around with balloons, had apple pie and ice cream (Emma is not a huge cake fan), and watched Cruella DeVille, which was right down her alley as she loves fashion. Good times celebrating such a good girl!

Em loves arts & crafting - needlepoint, crocheting, bedazzling, painting, sketching. You name it, she loves it and is very creative!
Has really gotten into rock hounding and polishing rocks. She has made jewlerly and other cool things with the rocks. She likes identifying the neat rocks she finds too.
She is tough but gentle. She can play rough but also has a sweet heart.
Emma is still way into fashion design. She loves to sketch designs for outfits and dresses, and makes outfits for her dress forms and Barbies still often. I always thought she'd grow out of this, but it is a passion of hers.
Helps out a ton with siblings or things at home without being asked or expecting anything in return.
Likes to stay up way too late and sleep in. She is doing pretty amazing waking up for early morning seminary every day though!
For being a teenager, really gets along well with all of her siblings (welll she and Cov clash quite a bit).
