Elder Oaks - Churches need us, we need churches. Attendance and full participation is so important in many ways.
Saturday Afternoon Session -
Elder Bednar - Gathering Israel on both sides of the veil brings joy to everyone involved. Missionary work and temple and family history work work together.These enable Latter-day Saints to receive the power of godliness and return to the presence of Heavenly Father. Covenant promises and blessings are possible only because of the Savior Jesus Christ. “He invites us to look to Him, come unto Him, learn of Him and bind ourselves to Him through the covenants and ordinances of His restored gospel. I testify and promise that honoring covenants arms us with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory.”
Elder Schmeil - Ask, study and act. Discipleship is not a competition. “We are here to love and help each other.”
Sister Porter - Knowing and feeling the love of Heavenly Father has the power to change many aspects of life. “When you know and understand how com- pletely you are loved as a child of God, it changes everything.” “God’s love is not found in the circumstances of our lives, but in His presence in our lives.”
Elder Kopischke - Mental health struggles. Church members are not immune; too many suffer silently and believe they have no place in the Church. “Remember that the Savior loves each of His Father’s children. ... Challenges often indicate a need for additional tools and support and are not a character defect.” Educate yourelf to help yourself and others, especially children. “We ... need to care for our children by helping them learn to be content with their sincere efforts as they strive to meet appropriate expectations.” Study the topic of “mental health” in the Life Help section of the Gospel Library app. “Learning will lead to more understanding, more acceptance, more compassion, more love.”
Elder Rasband - Things of the soul are clarified and deepened by asking questions, preparing to hear promptings, lifting sights beyond the ways of the world and giving purpose to work in the gospel and life.These are some things of the soul: Love God the Father and Jesus Christ, the Savior. Love neighbors. Love one’s self. Keep the command- ments. Always be temple worthy. Be joyful and cheerful. Follow God’s living prophet. “When we are heavy laden with mistakes, heartaches, feelings of inadequacy, disappointment, anger or sin, the power of the Savior’s Atonement is, by divine design, one of the things that lifts the soul.” The most important words “we can hear, ponder and follow are those revealed through our living Prophet.”
Elder Golden - No miracle or sign can convince our faith, we must get there with His help. “We are required to confront the reality that we are getting ever closer to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. True, great difficulties yet await those on the earth at His return, but in this regard, the faithful need not fear.”
Elder Villanueva - "Christ has compassion for our sadness and sufferings." He knows what it is like to lose someone, to be sad. God and Jesus want us all to have joy, regardless of circumstances. Don't murmur. Serve. The Lord's love can offer hope even on the worst days and times.
Elder Stevenson - Simplicity. Living the gospel of Christ, caring for those in need, inviting all to receive the Gospel, and uniting families for eternity. “It has been said that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is simply beautiful, and beautifully simple. The world is not. ... We should all strive to keep the gospel simple, in our lives, in our families, in our classes and quorums and in our wards and stakes.” “Much can be learned from miraculous outcomes brought through the simple application of simple gospel principles.”
Saturday Evening Session -
Elder Ballard - Be like Jesus when He said "here am I, send me!" Let God prevail and Hear him! How we feel about Christ influences how we treat others.
Sister Eubank - service is a pillar of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Be liberal to all. We have a charge to increase our humanitarian outreach. Will I be the answer to others prayers?
Elder Brad Wilcox - Repentance is a process, a lifetime persuit. Worthiness is not being flawless. It is being honest. It is about trying again even after we fail over and over. The Savior's arms are open to everyone.
Elder Nielsen - Do my actions reflect that I am a disciple of Christ?
Elder Valenzuela - Studying scriptures provides knowledge and context to who Christ is and who I am. Transforms and changes us as we study and teach them.
Elder Kyungu - Be a follower of Christ by aquiring His virtues. Humility, courage, forgiveness, sacrifice.
Elder Nash - Missionary work. This is an opportunity. Sharing the Gospel is joy and brings God's power in our lives. It helps us resist temptation. Our covenant responsibilty and this is our time.
Elder Eyring - Even the apostles are figuring out revelation. It is a lifelong process. It is through faith that we can hear him. We have to seek to recieve and have a mind to obey. Pray for the faith to keep commandments and covenants. “As our faith in Jesus Christ will have led us to ask the Father for answers, that faith will also have brought the Savior’s softening touch enough for us to hear His direction and be determined and excited to obey.”
Sunday Morning Session -
Elder Uchtdorf - Stay in line. Don't wander or get distracted. Use landmarks lik eprayer, pondering, scriptures, Come, Follow Me, review your days, repent and get back on ourse. We all need times of restoration and refreshing. Change what you think and feel and that can change the course.
Sister Johnson - The manifestations of the Holy Ghost are reliable. Don't be hesitant to ask for help or questions. We hold ourselves back. Our struggles define us and refine us. The stories where the main character goes through amazingly hard challenges and then triumps - aren't those our favorite stories? "Let the Lord be the author and finisher of our stories.:
Elder Renlund - We all have spiritual stress tests. Don't let contention creep in. Place discipleship and love of the Savior above all else. Be one.
Elder Sikahema - The Lord's house always has order. There is order in the Gospel. Order in our lives. Always a sequence, follow that order for peace of mind and to find joy.
Elder Cook - Afflictions are momentary. Take in the peace and love of the Savior. Personal peace is possible and needed because universal peace isn't possible. The Lord has said peace would be taken from the earth as a whole but we can make sanctuaries of peace in our corners. Rely on Christ. Build Zion in hearts and homes.
President Nelson - Foundations. Will I withstand? President Nelson got to go see all the work being done to make the foundation of the Salt Lake temple seismically sound. He took us on a look of what he saw. He said extraordinary measures are being taken to make sure the temple can withstand any future disaster. We should take unprecendented measures to make sure we can withstand any future turmoil as well. Everything at the temple instructs of Jesus and we can gain His power there. "Oh how we need His power!" Draw upon His power to not be overtaken by anxieties of the day. The restoration is a process. Every temple is the ultimate gathering of Israel objective. "Ongoing restoration brings ongoing revelation." This is Christ's work!
Sunday Afternoon
Elder Gong - We need to always trust God. He knows us and loves us better than we know and love ourselves. Let us make our places safe where others can trust us.
Bishop Budge - The root words for the word sacrifice mean to make one holy. How can I help others? What is the connection between making sacrificies and making one holy? Refugees need help everywhere. Find something to do for them.
Elder Perkins - The works of God are made manifest in us even through challenges and suffering. Refined souls is what God is creating. His pure love is enough. Keeping covenants opens Christ's power and joy, even in challenging times.
Elder Dunn - Small gains. Focus in on little improvement in one area, not all of your flaws. "We will trimph in Christ." We can't do it alone.
Elder Douglas - Don't be lukewarm or apathetic. Formula for joy and to be happy is to keep the commandments. Simple yet hard to do at times. Choose faith, not doubt. Doubt is a choice just like faith is.
Elder Revillo Jr. - Any sacrifice to get to the temple is worth it. Make monthly appointments to go to the house of the Lord and take the kids every other month.
Elder Meredith - Look down the road to end goal. Focus on Jesus Christ, understand goal. Be a devoted disciple of him. "Ther eis no discipleship without discipline." Beware of distractions. Be rescued.
Elder Anderson - Reestablish the name of the Church. Small efforts to do this are making big changes in good ways. The future of the Church depends on how I use the name of the Church. President Nelson IS THE prophet of God. Loves how he didn't just say a but the.
President Nelson - Now that conference is over, how will I change now? "Make time for the Lord in your life - each and every day." Fix your focus on Christ. New temples - Taiwan, Phillipines, Liberia, DC Congo, Madagascar, Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia, Santiago, West Chili, Ft. Worth TX, Cody WY (and the crowd goes wild!), Rexburg North, Heber Valley and Provo UT.
