Callahan was able to finally pad up and play tackle football. When he was younger, we encouraged him to try other sports, but mostly he just said he was "holding out for football". He tried a few other sports, but this is his love. Which is not surprising because of who his dad is. They started right at the beginning of September and went until mid-October. Most of his buddies played too, so that was fun. He played middle linebacker, right/left guard, right/left safety and defensive end. His coaches were Mr. Johannes and Coach Rasmussen. We loved gong to see him at his games at home and away. He did pretty well and progressed a lot during the year. It was a hard transition going from flag football for several years to tackle, but he did especially well at holding his guys. It was a beautiful season with warm games. We are proud of Cal and how hard he worked and he had so much fun! Go Cougars!
We were also able to go to some high school football games, Emma and Cal went with friends to a few and we went to the homecoming game. The homecoming parade was fun, too. Cal got to be on the football float. Everyone was supposed to be wearing masks, Cal was one of the few who actually was. We were all excited to see him and the other fun floats. We also went to an Absarokee game, and tailgated before for a youth activity as one of the boys in our branch plays for them. Love the small hometown pride found here!
While some of the college football leagues canceled their seasons, some kept going, so you can guess what we did on Saturdays once fall came. Football! BYU did really well this year. No WSU though. Cal especially loves watching football now that he understands it even more. And Dave was super glad they decided not to hold off!
