You Blow Me Away

One cool thing about being a parent is seeing your kids find their elements and excel at things.

Artsy Em - Emma just astounds us with her artistic abilities. From the projects she comes home with from art, to the "I'm gonna go down to the craft room" projects and whips something amazing out in an hour or less, she has got skill that girl!

Cool Cal - Callahan got the student of the month award for his grade, way to go! Cal's been up to making more videos for his Epic Singlet Boi channel, some are getting thousands of views, lol! Little cousin Kanon asks to watch Cal on YouTube every day. Cal's been working hard in school, weight lifting and prepping for high school football already. One of the neighbors was telling me that Cal is kind of a celebrity at their house and her little boys beg to play with him all of the time. And he's always up for antics, like putting random pictures above peoples beds, haha! Callahan got his first job! He became a referee for rec center soccer. He wasn't very confident about it at first but has been doing a great job and earning that paycheck.

Word lady Lucy - Lucy was able to compete recently in the spelling bee for her class. Before it even happened, she made up her mind that she was going to win her class spelling bee. She made it a goal, studied, worked hard, and won first place! Then she went to the Kemmerer spelling bee, where there were 16 kids to start from 6-8 grade (Lucy being one of the youngest there) and she won 2nd place! The other kid who won first was also a 6th grader...awesome! So they both won.

Basketball and Soccer Cov - This kid...this picture with the white background! Oh man he cracks me up! Junior Jazz season was awesome for Cov. He came in not knowing much about basketball, except shooting around and even then he had a hard time getting up to the rim all the time, and ended up getting really good and loving it. I loved helping coach these kiddos on the Coyotes (name they came up with as we were team C and wanted something that started with that letter) as assistant coach, though I learned more from them than I taught them. Covey played hard and got the Rocket Man award because often he'd jump out of nowhere for the rebound or steal. He scored at their first game, a few times in between, and a crucial foul shot at our last game. When he realized he double dribbled, he'd pass the ball to the refs. We told him to just keep playing until their was a whistle. At least he was honest. He was a great passer and team player and only complained a bit about fouls or other things that should've been called. We taught him that it's hard for us and the refs to see everything and we're all doing the best we can, so we need to just play our best and know the refs are calling the best they can and just have fun of course. For soccer, I was also a coach. We had a lot of fun together learning and getting better. Cov's favorite position is easily goalie and he only let a couple slide all season and caught dozens. Let's go!

Bad to the Bow Syds - Sydnie participated in a junior cheerleading clinic camp, which she wasn't so thrilled with. Every day after practice, she'd come home saying "that was so boring!" Which is funny because she loves dance and comes home with the best things to say about it. But in the end, she really did enjoy performing in the half time show at the boys basketball game. They did some cheers, routines and a couple dances. She did have fun doing some formations and liked doing the splits the best. We are proud of her for sticking with it, even if she didn't really love it always.  Also, I love the American spirit and respect found in our community. Before the game, I couldn't help but snap a picture of these two little boys who stopped playing, took their hats off, and had the greatest look of respect for our country on their faces as the pep band played the National Anthem. Then the game was an exciting and good one, it was a bad day in a good way.
