Totally Twelve

Lucy is officially twelve! It feels like she's maybe already been twelve or a teenager for a while. But she's still in the land between girl and young womanhood. We sure love this gal! She wanted to celebrate with an 80's themed friend birthday party this year. She had some of her close friends over (some were sick or out of town, so we had quite a few less than she invited) and they all had a radical time!  As her guests arrived, we had out "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" coloring pages for them. Their chatter was fun to listen to, they are a cute group of girls. Lucy had Addi, Clarissa, Anslei, Saige, and Taya make it. First, we had dinner and ate Pacman and Ghost pizza, Kool Aid jammers, and veggie and fruit trays. We decorated with 80's themed decor. I felt really old when someone asked what the cassette tape was in the 80's "bouquet" I made. Then they played some rounds of mafia and Taco Cat Goat Cheese pizza. Next, it was time for some 80's makeup and wear, so the girls got some little makeups and did each others makeup, and they tie dyed some scrunchies. We decorated cupcakes next with candies that all got their start in the 80's. Lucy wanted cherry cupcakes and we made some yummy cherry frosting and the gals decorated some cute little cupcakes. The girls finished off the night with kareoke of some 80's and other songs on our TV downstairs, but found some random "Into the Unknown" from Frozen videos where Elsa was out of tune and drunk and they were all laughing so hard from! Next we did presents and Lucy got some really fun things and cute cards from her pals. It was a blast and I know Lucy and her friends know how to like totally party on! After her party, she brought a candy and note to Dave and I thanking us for the fun party. She is thoughtful like that.

Lucy's real birthday was on Sunday. She woke up calm and happy and ready to celelbrate again! We got ready for church in the morning. After church, Mom and Dad had meetings, but the kids just watched a movie together. When we got home, we played a bunch of games from Charades to Catch Phrase. We looked at baby books of Lucy. Lucy thought it was great that she was coming so quickly once we got to the hospital that the doctor threw me in a wheel chair and ran me into a room and Dad was running to keep up. We had her birthday dinner next. We had Maddox turkey steaks, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, salad, and Maddox rolls with raspberry honey butter. We talked about why we love Lucy - almost all the kids said that they love that she plays with them and shares her toys. She does play so well with all of the kids and gets along with them well. I said I love her determination and that she will do anything she sets her mind to. Dad said he loves that she is so unique and continues to have a great imagination. She got some calls and well wishes from family. And then we opened her presents. We had her cake next, she requested Nutella lava cakes, which turned out yummy. We sang loud (which she always gets a little embarrased by) and ate the yummy cake. Then we finished off the night with a game of pop the balloon where everyone had a balloon tied around their ankle and they had to try to protect theirs but pop everyone elses balloons. Lucy won! We totally win having Lucy in our lives!

Lucy is still an absolute book worm and loves reading everything, everywhere, everytime.

She loves the Bob Marley channel and reggae music.

Starting to get that teenage attitude - swings in emotions, sleeping in, talking back. Typical.

Luce is a great friend to others, especially her own sisters and brothers (though sharing a room with her sisters lately can have its challenges).

Lucy makes some great comments that make us all laugh and has a fun sense of humor.

She enjoys writing and drawing, and loves writing her own little books.

Lucy is a great student. She has been doing tutoring for math for a while and has come along way in that and does well in her other classes.

Is enjoying Young Womens but sometimes tries to run away from doing some things with her friend Addi. 

Very thoughtful of others and compassionate.
