April Fools Antics!

Emma kept asking several days before "Now, what day is April 1st again?" just to make sure she didn't miss it.  On April Fool's eve, she asked if it was okay to pull a little prank on Cal and Lucy.  She wanted to color on their faces and give them mustaches with a washable marker.  I told her she did that to me while I was sleeping last year and maybe to think of something else.  So what did she come up with?  She thought it would be sneaky good fun to give them a unibrow (but she also added some "facial hair" for kicks and giggles).  When Lucy woke up, she noticed her hands were a little brown (since she sleeps with her hands by her face.  Then we took her into the bathroom to look in the mirror.  She smiled and laughed!  :)  But when Cal woke up, he wasn't as happy.  :(  He felt better when he heard about the trick I played on Emma.

For her lunch, I packed a hoagie sandwich and strategically placed a plastic lizard right on top of the deli meat, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes.  When she got home she informed me that lizards don't scare her anyways.  But she did think the E I cut out of brown construction paper (get it, brown E, brownie!?  I thought it was pretty funny) and the baby carrots in the cheeto bag were pretty silly!

That morning, we read a fun book from the library called April Fools, and then the kids decided to make their own monster to scare the mom of the friends we watch a few days a week when she got back.  They entertained themselves with that monster for a few hours and then, when our friend got back, the kids had the monster answer the door as they hid.  He he!

Dave pulled a little prank on Ned, the CEO at the hospital where he works.  Ned was late for the Administration meeting that morning.  So Dave talked to the others and they came up with a little way they could tease Ned.  The hospital was waiting to hear about news that ICD-10 (the new coding that will be implemented soon) would probably be set back another year or so, which would be a relief for the hospital, since due to years of mismanagement, they wouldn't have the funds available unless they took out a loan.  So they were excited when they heard Obama was probably going to sign the bill that would delay the implementation of ICD-10 because they would have enough money saved up by then.  But when Ned came in, Dave told him that Obama wasn't going to sign it and ICD-10 was still on schedule.  The others in Admin played along with Dave and Ned went off about how he couldn't believe Obama wouldn't sign it, and kept rambling on how he was so disappointed (like Ned doesn't have enough stress!).  Then Dave said "You know, it is April 1st."  Ned and everyone broke out laughing and Ned reminded them it doesn't have to be April Fools to trick someone and to watch out.

We aren't done yet.  We always like to play a little trick on Dave.  Usually it's in the form of a cheap dollar store gag.  This year, Emma picked out the nuts in a can trick where the snake pops out.  Cal and Daddy tried to get it open for a while, it was kind of tricky.  When they did get it open and the snake popped out (Daddy didn't see it coming of course, har har!), Cal jumped and giggled, and everyone giggled and then all of the kids kept doing it for each other.  Cal offered me nuts for several days after April 1st, and it didn't get old.  I took a video but didn't get any pictures of them opening the can of "nuts". I love their cute laughs and giggles!  They make my heart happy!
