A Jaw-some 6th Birthday for Coverton!

Coverton's birthday was a really jaw-some day!  He was lucky to have Grandma and Grandpa Ryerse come celebrate with him!  He woke up asking if I had decorated for him (which I hadn't yet as he had already gotten out the birthday sign and put it somewhere else so I couldn't do it the night before), and us wishing him a happy b-day.  Then we made waffles with his face on it (ha ha!  His request, we do face pancakes quite a bit, but generic faces, but he wanted to design his own on his breakfast).  They turned out pretty good!  We all laughed when Cov and Grandma came out dressed and twinning with their "Nice to Eat You" shark shirts.  We had no idea they were both wearing these shirts and this was one Cov got for his birthday!  Like Grandma, like Grandson.  The kids watched a movie while we all got ready and cleaned up.  We went outside to go bug hunting, which is one of Cov's favorite activities.  Grandma found a fuzzy caterpillar which was a hit.  Then we all looked at scrapbooks from birthdays past.  We had some lunch and headed out on our way to the state fair.  We checked out exhibits and the animals first.  Cov was not shy to tell everyone we talked to that it was his birthday.  He was so excited!  Next, we did some rides.  The kids all had a blast, but Cov loved the dragon spinning ride and the bumper cars best.  Last, we hit up some shows.  We saw an Extreme Dogs show, Mango & Dango (which Cov remembered from last year and was so excited when he heard they were back...he even got to met Dango after and Dango sang him a short little birthday diddy) and Roberto the Magnificent. We finished off our night out at Texas Roadhouse for dinner.  The staff came over and wished him a happy birthday and brought some ice cream out for him.  He was so excited and made sure he said "thank you!" without me even reminding him.  We talked about what we liked about him.  Emma was being typical teenager and said to come back to her and then we never did, Cal said he liked it when Cov wasn't annoying, Grandpa said he liked that Cov could be so loud, Grandma said she liked how great of a bug hunter he is, Lucy said she likes to play games like cats and school with him, I said I like how thoughtful and complementary he is, and Dave said he likes how Cov asks so many questions and wants to learn.  He was very sweet and tried to share his ice-cream.  Sydnie willingly obliged.  And Sydnie kept hugging him and giving him kisses in our booth.  On the way back home, we heard from Grandma Di & Grandpa Scott and Cov told them that he was having the best day ever and had SO much fun!  He joked with Grandpa that he was 95 years old.  He told them all the fun things we had been doing.  Then we got home and opened presents - a shark mask, basketball and hoop from us, a remote control spider, a cockroach and a music monster truck from Grandma & Grandpa.  Then we sang to him in Ryerse style and ate the cupcakes I threw together really quick.  He was having a hard time going to sleep because he had so much fun and couldn't wait to wake and play the next morning.

A few days later, Cov had his friend birthday, his first!  He had Callie, Colt, Hunter, Kaleb and Ledger over, a few of his other good buddies were out of town. It was another shark themed birthday.  We started out with making shark hats and the kids playing in the "water" (blue balloons all over the floor).  Then we had some "shark bait" - sub sandwiches, cheetos and blue tortilla chips, veggies, ocean water punch, and shark jello cups for lunch.  After that, we played some sharks and minnows, and used the shark mask Cov just got for the shark. They probably laughed more during this time than the entire thing.  What a fun crew!  I knew we had to do lots of active things, since they're active kids.  We played Shark Bingo (yay for free internet printables) after and they were way into it!  We had cake and ice cream and sang to Covey, they said they wanted to try singing "Ryerse style" so that was funny.  Next up, we made ocean slime with the help of Emma.  It turned out pretty well!  It was just 3 ingredients and then mini sea shells.  Cov and Colt were pretending to be babies at this point and it was pretty funny.  Then we were going to do a shark ball toss, but Covey, who helped make this game along with Lucy, said we should play knock out the sharks teeth, hehe!  He makes me laugh!  Finally, it was presents time and he got some fun things, but his favorite was a suction ball throwing game.  He said that was the favorite part of his birthday too. He was giving all his buddies hugs after they gave him the presents, that was sweet!

We sure love our Covey!  He has the sweetest smile and can make anyone happy.
