Fourth of July in the Big Sky

We were lighting up the sky from sun up to sun down in the Big Sky this year on Independence Day! We made a patriotic breakfast, which was English scones (one of our favorites) in a star shape with blueberries & strawberries.  We read some books about our country, like the Declaration of Independence and also one about the Pledge of Allegiance.  We attended the parade in Laurel, which was a fun one. The kids liked some of the cute hometown floats and the candy, of course (especially Sydnie!).  Then we had a BBQ at home which consisted of classic hot dogs and hamburgers, fries, watermelon, baked beans, corn on the cob and we made pop rock floats, which were fun!  We talked about what we loved about America during lunch as we stuffed ourselves silly, so American.Then we made some star mosaic crafts. All throughout the day we were sending patriotic GIFs and pics of what we were all doing back and forth to family. Then we drove to the Celebrate Freedom festival in Billings.  It was put on by a Church there and was really well organized and a good time.  They had a bunch of activities, the kids really loved it!  Their favorite was the bear spray training station, haha!  We met up with our friends, the Wilhelms, who recently moved here from Wyoming, we used to hang out with them there so we got together with them and then we went to the fireworks show back in Laurel, which was a pretty good one.  It would start and stop though, several times which started driving us all crazy.  Come to find out, since we weren't in the park, they have people who give little speeches and have music they stop for.  It was a long show and was still going at 11:30 when we finally left!  The kids crashed on our way back.  That pretty much made up our day here. I love so much about America - the beautiful skies to the bounteous blessings we enjoy living here!  God bless America for now and forever!
