The first day, they set up camp, learned all the rules, and got locked up because there was a bear in the camp! Needless to say, that day was not her favorite.
They went river water rafting, did some neat crafts, went on some hikes, learned some things, exchanged secret sister gifts, did a service project, played games, putting on and watching skits, learned songs, listened to speakers, being bandits with her friends, and more. She said the food wasn't great but their ward Camp Director got tons of candy and snacks which made up for it.
The last night, they had a testimony meeting. Emma said she and Hero were the only ones not to cry, but she said she felt the spirit. Her leaders have been wonderful and have said she's come a long way since she first started attending YW in Laurel.
The kids were SOOO excited to go pick her up and so was I. She had a blast and I'm so glad it was a good experience for her!
After our family reunion, Emma was able to stay after for a couple of weeks. She hung out with Tayla and the Ryerse Grandparents and some ID family a lot for a few days going swimming, to the Rush funplex, shopping with Grandma, making vinyl signs and other crafts, helping with projects, playing with the cats, etc. Then she went to the Stoddard grandparents and hung out with them. She did an art class - watercolors with cousin Amber and Grandma Di and loved it! She and Amber stayed up late watercoloring and talking into the middle of the night. Grandma Di also helped her make her first quilt - it was a cat print with all her favorite colors! Pretty amazing! It was a great experience for Emma to go down alone and have that time with her tribe. We are thankful she has amazing people around her teaching her and loving her! It seems like she never wants to come home, but we are always glad when she gets home as there is definitely a void when she's gone.
