Utah Summer

So we were kind of homeless for a few weeks and so we decided to head down to Utah to make the most of it!  The kids weren't at all upset by that.  ;)  Dave stayed back to work for most of the time but came down for a week and a half (including reunion time).

It was the best to be with Grandparents, aunts & uncles and cousins!  So much quality time with them.  The first half we stayed with Grandma Di & Grandpa Scott and the second half with Grandma Sue & Grandpa Dan.

We did lots of art projects, exploring, playing outdoors, catching bugs, helping in the garden, practicing music, making good food and more.  Cov learned how to play the Ukelele.  "Lalala clap your hands together."  He picked up pretty quick and loved it.  The other kids had Grandma help them with the piano.  Emma got a new trumpet while we were down so she was excited about that.  It has a great sound. It was so nice spending time with them!

We did some shopping since we were by shopping.  A novel concept for us country folk now, haha!  Cov was very excited to get a Nike hat like Uncle Randy and had to wear it every time Uncle Randy wore his.

We got to meet Randy's new fiancee, Erin.  She is such a great lady and we are so happy for her and Randy!  We went to the temple grounds to walk around one day, and guess who was there?  Randy and Erin, and we had no idea!  Dave and I were also able to go to the temple for a beautiful session!

It was fun to see Sydnie and McKenzie interact now that they're a little older.  They would cruise around and chase each other and smile at each other.  It was adorable!  It's also funny because they both got their lateral incisors first, so they look like little bats, so funny.

We went to the new Creekside Park in Bountiful several times.  It was a hit with the kids!  A beautiful new addition to the community!

One day, when Adam, Meghan, Steven and Ruby came down, we went hiking with them and Grandma and Grandpa on the Wild Rose Trail in North Salt Lake.  It was a great hike where you could see the whole valley (and what little is left of the Great Salt Lake) and then the kids loved the playground at the end.

We finally got new phones!  Goodbye, 6 year old Samsung.  You've served me well, but it was definitely time to upgrade!  Hello, S9+.  I told Dave I didn't care what I got as long as it took good pictures, and take good pictures it does!

We did lots of swimming! One day at the Bountiful Rec Center with the Ryerse cousins, and another time at the splash pad in Layton and then with Ruby and Steven, Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Christie and 2nd cousins Indie and Nora in North Salt Lake.  These cousins have a blast together!

At Grandma Sue and Grandpa Dan's, we went to Cheese Park a lot, reading, coloring, playing with the cats, and doing Legos.  The kids did so many Lego sets with Grandma!

We saw movies together - the oldest girls saw Mama Mia with Grandpa Dan, some went to go see Ant Man and the Wasp and I took the younger ones to Hotel Transylvania 3.  Dave and Randy also went to a few other movies late at night.

We got together with a couple of friends.  Once we met up at a park for the Drum Bus reading activity, which Lucy and Cov loved.  Then we saw the Youngbergs and the Mortensens, friends I had all growing up.  It was fun to catch up.

Emma and Lucy went with Amber for several days and they loved that but got homesick a bit.  They went to the Zoo, the mall, movie, and so much more.  Thanks, Mark & Mayela!  We also had sleepovers with Tayla, Kaison, Brody and Sawyer and that is always so much fun!

We went with Jerry & Stacy and family to the Clinton Days for fun and fireworks.  Cousin time is the best!!

 

Although things didn't turn out the way we wanted them to with our house, we are thankful for the good times we were able to have with our families.  Utah summers are the best!
