Can it be? Our little lass be 10 year old already!? Lucy had her birthday into double digits on a Friday. She was so excited to clean her room and go to bed the night before because she knew what lay ahead. When she woke, we played her a pirate birthday song to wake her up. She smiled and loved that and popped right up! We made English scones, peach raspberry ones, for breakfast, and everyone loved them. Everyone wished her a happy birthday. Cal even gave her a certificate for a skateboard riding lesson. She headed to school with mini cinnamon rolls to share in her class. She said she had a great day and got sung happy birthday to three times, which she said was embarrassing. In the afternoon, Lauren came home with her and they played outside and in, she helped decorate what I hadn't yet, we looked through her baby books, and had fun. Then her friends came that evening. She had Lauren, Jolee, Maryn, Summer, Avery and Macie come. She wanted a pirate tea party. As the gals came, we gave them pirate hats, eye patches and a faux pearl necklace. We found out everyone's pirate names using a name generator. Lucy's was Billygoat Spike Sparrow. Then it was dinner time. We had scurvy dogs (hot dogs), pirate booty, carrots and broccoli with ranch and watermelon for dinner along with pirate punch (sprite mixed with sherbet). Lucy said the thing she liked best about her party was the punch bowl and having the tea party with her gal pals. The girls were so cute and had fun giving each other cheers and talking about everything from school to being a pyro to boys and manners at the table. We had a little drama as some of the girls wanted to keep getting out their phones and some of them said to put them away or even tried to take others phones and hide them. That made Lucy a little upset but the girls all got over it and it was all okay in the end. After dinner, the girls were ready for dessert. Lucy wanted oreo cake balls and orange madeleines this year instead of cake, so that's what we did. We sang to her and introduced her friends to Ryerse style, they thought that was pretty funny. Cov especially was showing off, and even some of Lucy's friends helped him dress like a girl since he was hanging with them. Dave was not happy about that but the girls thought he was hilarious. I am glad Lucy let him join in willingly. The friends also loved playing with Sydnie too. Emma was getting in on some of the action, but keeping her distance also. After that, we painted little chests to put their treasure in. They made them really fun! Then we went on a treasure hunt and the girls had to find 10 different clues throughout the house to find the treasure. Inside the treasure box (that Todd made Dave a few years back which has become our prize box for when the kids earn enough mom bucks or earn a piano prize), we had ring pops, fake tattoos, candy necklaces, bath bombs, and chocolate gold coins. The girls were excited! We opened presents next, we gave her a Calico Critters house and a tadpole/frog grow kit. She got art supplies, a chicken, American Girl doll kit, journal, squishies, and more fun stuff. Then we tried to start Pirates of the Caribbean but only a couple were interested in watching, so they decided to play sardines and hide and go seek. Then we played a drawing game where everyone drew a different part of a body, folded the paper and passed it along. They had lots of laughs at that one. Then the friends went home. The parents all told me how much fun their girls had. Lucy told me before bed thanks for making her birthday so special, and in the morning, we woke to notes from her thanking us for her fun party and presents. What a grateful and sweet girl!

Lucy loves reading so much, there are a few times we've had to take her books from her because she wants to do nothing else. Reading is great but so are other things. ;)
She has a temper and is always trying to work on controlling it but tells us sometimes she just can't, it's too hard.
Lucy is so fun because she still plays well with Sydnie and Cov, yet also can play well with Emma and Cal. She can still do imaginative play so well but also can hold an adult-like conversation with me and Dave or other adults. She is a good friend. Her friends parents tell us they love having her over because the things she says makes them laugh.
This gal is loving Irish dance. She is glad she stuck with it, after thinking about quitting. She recently got to move on to the hard toed dance shoes as well.
Lucy is so thoughtful. She will do chores without being asked when she sees we're in a pinch or having a hard day. She writes notes to those who are sick or sad. She encourages others.
She plays this game that is her favorite with Maryn that is so funny with dolls. They play Sassy baby. They take turns being baby Sassy and her family. It is hilarious to listen to!
This little miss is a great student, but still doesn't think math is great most days. She really likes playing school at home.
Lucy has a wild spirit and loves to be outdoors.
