Spring has been awesome around here! A little chilly, which is typical Wyoming, but good. As one of Cov's friends Kash said, "Don't say the 's' word, it means snow around here!" We did have some beautiful days though and with the drought the way it is, we are grateful for the snow.
Dave started doing an EMT course. There is a shortage of help with that lately so he decided to take the courses which are very time consuming, plus clinical hours. But he is really enjoying it and is glad he's doing it. We will be glad when it's over though and he has his certification done. :)
We had a Kindness Carnival at the school sponsored by the PTO. It was my idea, and we had such a great time coming up with booth ideas, making things for it, ordering supplies and putting it on. It was a great success and everyone says we should make it an annual event!
April 1st, April Fools was fun! We had a busy day, but I made some jello worms for the kids for snacks. We didn't even make it home after school for snacks so we had them before bed. They were jello and sweetened condsed milk with some food coloring in straws. Some of the kids ate them but they were mostly grossed out. Fooled you! The taste was pretty good but I think it was the texture and just the thought of it all.
Earth Day was fun, we made some birdhouses and fed the birds, we have seen so many varieties and particularly love the bright Blue Jays. The kids all got trees from the library we are going to plant outside eventually. We started them out in pots they decorated and kept them in the house for a while. They are doing well and it will be fun to watch them grow!
We had an Emergency Prepardeness Fair that Dave and I helped put on as part of our calling with the stake. We had such a great turn out, so many awesome booths, wonderful classes and some yummy snacks of course. Cal and Emma came and helped me with that. Great day!
Covey was able to do the Spring indoor soccer league. I was his head coach, along with Holly Erickson as assistant. The kids were great. We only won a couple of games, but were so close so many times and our team showed a bunch of heart! They were such great kids and Cov loved it and played his heart out! My favorite moment was when his shoe came off during play and he picked it up and just kept playing with only one shoe and one sock on. We didn't get many pictures as it was busy always on the sidelines and Dave had to miss lots of games. But we are loving it! Go Purple Pandas!
Sydnie has been doing dance with Diamond Dance and her wonderful teacher Brynn Robinson. She has loved every minute of dance. In fact one day when she was sick, we called up her school letting them know she wouldn't make it. Then I told her we had to contact her dance teacher to let her know she couldn't be there and she told me she was just fine (which clearly she wasn't) and that she was ready to go. I told her she was coughing so much and way too congested to go and she cried for quite a while. She can't wait to go to dance each week. Sydnie's class danced with their dolls, it was adorable! The best part was Sydnie and some of the girls telling each other how to do things on stage and Sydnie grabbed a feather on stage from another groups costumes to go throw away so she was the last one off stage tippy toeing. Everyone in the audience was roaring over that. Bravo!
The older kids have been having lots of band and music concerts. Emma and Cal played their festival songs at one. I got to help accompany many kids on their music solos for the Regional Music Festival in Star Valley, including Emma. She struggled a bit but still got an Excellent rating and certificate. She played Trumpet Tune f Dur. Callahan and his crew went to State for band in Riverton. I was a chaperone and the kids did amazing. All of the judges couldn't believe the kids played so well for being a school and town this size. They got top marks. Lucy had some band concerts - band, a singing and recorder concert too and Cov got to perform in his Jungle Jazz musical, where he was a trumpet playing elephant. I am so glad the arts are taken seriously here. We have some wonderful teachers!

For May Day, we made some cute flower cake jars and took them around to a single lady and a family. I love this tradition.
We won some beef from a raffle the kids were doing to earn money for an upcoming trip. We ended up buying a ton, so it was no surprise, since we hate fundraisers and opted to buy the tickets and have them do extra chores to earn their keep. What's for dinner? Beef!
May the Fourth was a day the kids all dressed in their favorite Star Wars shirts, we made Daurth Maul-ffles for breakfast, and had light saber pretzel sticks for snacks. We got to read some Star Wars books and watch some movies too.
