We had such a nice and warm fall for the first half feeling like summer, and then in October and half of November, it was was cold and snowing feeling like winter already! I love the pretty leaves, our burning bushes looked so pretty this year with all the color. And the first snow is always so magical, but October feels too early. We had some really great fall feels this year...
We were able to get out and go fishing a few times with the really nice weather. It was beautiful with the fall leaves as a backdrop for trying to catch some fish. We brought Cal's friend Casten once who is a pro fisherman already. He was helping all the kiddos and it was sweet. No real fish but the kids caught lots of Goldfish crackers in their mouth.
We had a family from our branch, the Stahls, stay at our house for a week and a half before they left to move to WY. Lucy especially had fun with Tosya and Sydnie with Alya. It was interesting, we evacuated the basement and let them stay there, had them up for dinner often and helped moved them out. Glad to help but glad it wasn't longer than it was.
We also had a baby shower for our friends the Ames, we helped host it. But then they lost their sweet baby and she was still born so we helped minister to them by bringing food, praying for, and we made them a memory bear. They even brought the baby home in the blanket we gave them. Our hearts are breaking for them but know they will heal through the Lord.
We had a manners dinner where we learned about good manners and practiced. The kids also practiced what not to do and we were all laughing so hard we were crying! Dave and I also enjoyed a Billings Clinic classic from home where we got to practice our own manners and enjoyed the program from our computer while dining.
The kids have been loving friend time. We have been careful not to have as many playdates but they sure look forward to friends Fridays. Cal and Nolan have been up to usual shenanigans, Lucy and Summer got best frend necklaces, and Cov even had his first sleepover with Hunter.
We've had a new spike in Covid cases in our area, so Dave was very busy working around and through it. We did get quarantined of course, Cal got quarantined twice since one of the football team members got Covid. We are trying to be careful but not being paranoid. We delivered some paper towels and toilet paper to our ministering families as that stuff is in demand and out of stock always in stores.
One day we went out to Phipps Park in Billings to hike, climb on the rock and play frisbee golf. We loved taking all the nice fall days in between the cold ones while we could. We also went to Scheels, out to lunch, and got some Crubml cookies to round the day out. Love carefree days exploring with the fam!
Our sky has been looking so bad lately, with so many wildfires going on all over. There were some days we couldn't go out because the air quality was so bad! We've been praying hard and it's getting better. After things cleared, we got the best skies again!
Emma's been working hard in school, getting lots of homework now that she's a big high school student. She has been also working on lots of art projects at home and for school and is so glad to be back in art again. Her teacher has been giving her more than 100% on lots of assignments because she does so well! She loves video chatting and messaging with her cousins Amber and Tayla. We were finally able to get our manicotti freezer meals done for young women camp fundraiser. That's a relief, as we had put it on hold with Covid and pasta was out of stock and we were limited to the number we could buy. The girls did great!
Cal grew out his hair for Halloween, and Dave kept saying he'd give Cal $20 if he'd let him cut his hair after and wear it for a week at school. Well, he gave Cal that hair cut, an old school choppy bull cut. He and we all laughed when we saw it, and went to school on Monday with it. But after hearing "I like your cut G!" about a hundred times and being hit in the back of the had (as a joke, it's a big meme right now) by all the boys at school, he asked me to cut it again. I gave him $5, that is pretty brave. Not to mention this boy was not afraid to wear his American tights for spirit week, that's guts!
Lucy got started up with Irish dance again, this time with Ms. Jakki Low and Claddaugh Irish Dance Academy. Jakki is from Ireland and the "reel" deal. Lucy's been loving it and getting really good. Though we mostly just see her at home as parents are only allowed to pick up at the door so we don't watch much. Lucy loves playing at home and reading too. We recently went to the dentist and Lucy has an obsession with going and loves it so much. She wants to learn more about being a dentist or hygienist. She likes being creative and making thing, even turning her food into art.
Covey is our "popular kid". At least that's what the other kids say of him. The girls are fond of him at school and Lucy always has a story to tell about what she saw him doing. He is doing well in class, his teacher says he's one of the best but we've been working on writing neatly. He especially loves art and science, which his teacher does a lot of.
Sydnie is having fun at Kid's Club preschool and her days off with mom and her own playdates with friends here and there. She especially likes getting together with Cade and Cora and Katelyn too. She has got quite the personality and can be the biggest sweetheart or biggest stinker...sometimes at the same time, haha!
Mom has been working away at Kid's Club with her preschool class, teaching piano, helping the kids with homework/practicing/reading/cleaning, etc. And Dad has been pushing through these difficult Covid months and working long hours and also starting to apply for other jobs now.
Fall, you've been good to us! We're feeling good fall feels even with everything going on!
