We've been excited that football is back on - Go both Cougs!!! They both got off to a slow start, but have been doing great!!
Cov's been learning and playing at home. His latest favorite things are playdough, making his own carboard car and kinetic sand.
Jazzy caught her first bird. The kids were so sad about the poor thing (but I reminded them that's just her nature to do that), and gave Jazzy a good rebuke and wanted to give the bird a proper burial. So they buried the bird in the backyard and made a headstone for it.
It has been SO nice weather-wise around here. The kids were even able to go swimming a few times, which they were happy about, but also a little sad their swimming days were over for the season.
Jazzy Cat also survived her first (and probably last?) show-and-tell. Sh was kind of freaking out but did well considering she is a cat. The kids were delighted and Lucy & Cal were so proud!
We've been working on some projects around the house to get this place how we want it to be. Cov likes helping out, trying to get Daddy's tools and use them and he loves this "Bane" mask and goggles (except for when Daddy wears it, it scares him). Painting, trim work, a new water purification filter system, a new furnace, new flooring and more! The water that came out here was unbelievable...yuck! We got the pipes banged on and got everything flushed out. Glad we got that done.
We've been working outside a lot! Lots of raking, digging, trips to the dump. Lucy loved emptying out all of the leaf bags into this giant pile of leaves at the dump!
We've been partying it up and have been to quite a few friends birthdays. Emma's quite the party animal, right?
"Oh, it's on!" Cal said of the opening soccer game with the DC Soccer gang. He savored each practice and game and gave it his best effort. He got to kick off the opening game, and was goalie for the last half of the last game. He liked showing us his fierce "game faces" afterwards, too. He also lost his two top teeth within two days so we called him toothless for a couple weeks before they were growing back in.
We have this owl outside in our garden to scare away the birds and Cov pulled it down and called him Ken and told me "Cal is my one brother and Ken is my other." For about a week, Cov would take Ken everywhere with him and play with him non stop.
The kids have been getting playdates on with friends. One day, Lucy and her little friend Halle decided to use our face paint set to paint each others faces. Lucy was a butterfly and Halle was a pink cheetah. Cov wanted to get in on the action as well and asked to be transformed into Marshall from Paw Patrol.
General Conference was so inspiring! We loved it all. The kids did pretty well listening. Emma, Ivy and I watched the Women's Session and had a girls party too that night with shopping, treats, and makeovers. They did these coloring sheets during them to keep them engaged and listened *most of the time. For the weekend of Conference, we made apple fritters with apples from our backyard and feasted on the words. Oh, how we love General Conference! The kids love their Legos and enjoyed building while listening when they weren't fighting. At the very end of the last Sunday afternoon session, President Monson waved as he was leaving and Cov ran up to the TV and waved right back and told President Monson goodbye. It was sweet! I'm so thankful for the rejuvenation I feel and determination to do what's right with each session.
About two weeks into October, we got a few days of cold, snowy weather and the first snow storm of the season. Brrroctober! The kids were so delighted to wake up to the white stuff and couldn't wait to go throw snowballs and make a snow fort. The snow was great packing snow and they made a little fort in the yard.
I got involved on the committee for the Hospital Foundation annual dinner. The theme was Live from Scobey: Saturday Night Live! We had a great time getting ideas together, decorating, putting program together. We popped a bunch of popcorn and made cotton candy for the street vendor carts. Dave and I helped out assigning numbers for the silent auction. I wish we got a picture of Dave & I there together, because it was a great night, but we didn't. The skits were great, lots of money was raised, the dinner was fabulous and entertainment couldn't be beat!

Lucy's been into make up and doing hair and painting nails more and more lately. She makes her dolls be her subjects, because usually the kids don't want to. I let her paint my nails quite a bit. And she does her own make up. She also cut her hair at school with her scissors and said she hurried and threw it away before her teacher saw it! Oh, little girl!!
So this community is great and so safe, we are so thankful for that. I get a kick out of reading the Police Blotter.
Our couches came, they finally came! We got a sweet deal at Costco that included white glove delivery. We're loving the smooth leather, and snuggling, napping and reading lots together on them.
There are ladybugs all over here..I can't believe how many! If you turn up a leaf in our backyard there will be 10-15 under each one it seems. They're such fun little things, I think they might just be my favorite insect. One showed up one night to help do dishes, haha!
Our house had diesel fuel for the main source of heat so we got that ripped out in exchange for propane. It was Cov's best day when the ones taking the old away and installing the new came in their John Deere tractor. He was in heaven. When they got here, we were on the trampoline jumping and Cov stopped and his jaw dropped. He was glued and wanted to watch all day. One of our friends in town also has a Jeep he's fascinated with and now he says "We need to get me one of those!"
We got these lockers from the school, they were getting new ones this year. We have some for tools and sporting equipment and garden things and also gave the kids each of their own and let them decorate. They had a blast!
We've been riding bikes more than ever. Lucy even learned to mostly ride her bike on her own.
Cal and Lucy have been playing Conan again...hehe! Flash back from a few years again. And of course, Batman and dressing up and pretending every day!
Lucy decided to skip school for the first time. We were finishing up lunch here when we heard the door open and footsteps and giggles. Lucy and her friend Halle decided to come start their playdate early. They hid when the bell rang and then came to our house, little stinkers! We hurried and gave them a scolding, got them in the car and took them back to school. They even had their first trip to the principal's office. This upset Lucy and she calls the principal a jerk now, but we assured her he just wanted to keep them safe. The two didn't get their playdate that day, but had to wait to learn their lesson. Kindergarten sluffer...haha! Leave it to Lucy!
Cal started Cub Scouts this fall, and Emma started Girl Scouts. I'm one of Cal's Den Mom for the Wolf den, and I'm also the assistant for the Girl Scout troop here. I love that they think it's cool I'm a leader now, because I'm sure when they get a bit older, it might not be as great to them at the time. ;) I'm enjoying learning and growing with them! We have been working on learning the mottos/oath and the signs and the promises. For Cal, we've played games, put on a carnival, did a night on healthy habits, made scrapbooks and more. Great programs and I'm happy to get to share this time with them and their friends.
Fall is such a beautiful time and I love seeing the sunsets at night. There's nothing like them and pictures just can't capture the full effect. Beautiful time to be alive! I just can't believe how fast time is going by!
