While Jerry and Stacy were here, Stacy brought her hair cutting stuff to cut Dave's hair, upon his request. When Emma saw her pull it out, she asked to get her hair cut. We've been working on growing our hair out together to donate, but I didn't think we'd do it until later this summer. But Emma persisted, and we measured her hair, and sure enough, she had 10 inches, which is the minimum donation length. So I said okay, and Stacy cut our hair while the dads went out to the shooting range. Emma wasn't nervous at all but excited, and I was ready to get mine cut too.

Getting ready to cut it. Stacy divided it up into two ponytails because my hair is pretty thick.
Emma's hair in a braid. She wasn't nervous or scared at all, but just kept saying "I'm scared to show everyone at church and school." As you can imagine, everyone loves her new look!
Look at how cute!
She did it! Emma's first big hair cut. She's gotten lots of trims, but never anything drastic like this!
And the new and improved Melanie and Emma...
Thanks so much, Stacy! I think that our hair turned out so great! Everyone else agrees!
Dave was so excited when he came home! The look on his face was priceless, he didn't know I was going to do it, I kept telling him it would be a while. He loves my hair short, so it was a nice surprise for him! And my little Emma looks so grown up! I'm still getting used to her new look! She looks like a big girl now! (: I think it was also good for her to be able to do something little to make a big difference for others, too. We went online and looked at other's stories and who it goes to help. This was I think my fifth time donating my hair, and it was extra special this time around to be able to do it with my little 5-year-old girl!
