Seems like she was just born, and now Sydnie is FIVE! She was going back and forth on a birthday theme for this year (for a while she wanted an Epic Singlet Boi birthday, haha!) but finally decided on Unicorns. The kids have tried to tell her that unicorns aren't real animals, but she refuses to believe them. We have even gotten books on unicorns and how they are mythical, but to her they have to be! So that's what we did. She woke up and Lucy, Cal, and Emma decorated her room so fun for her. They included unicorn cut outs and swirlies and ribbons and even a balloon pit at the bottom of the slide that goes off her bed. She was so excited about that! Lucy did most of it, so thoughtful of them. We ate some banana nut muffins and birthday cake pebble cereal for breakfast. The kids dished out some teasing and she was not going to take it that day. All Sydnie wanted to do was open presents and the kids kept telling her she needed to be grateful and not greedy and think of others and not just herself. We did a little spa for Syds and painted nails, did some massages and hand and foot scrubs. She loved being pampered! The neighbors came over and asked if she wanted to go on the bouncy house they have with them and Cov and she was excited to hang out with her buddies. Then it was lunch time. Sydnie decided on Nutella and banana sandwiches, which I turned into a unicorn for her along with some other fun unicorn themed food. The afternoon, the kids watched a movie, we looked at Sydnie's baby book, and then headed to the outdoor pool. We hadn't been to that pool yet but really enjoyed it! We got her a new unicorn floaty which was a hit...she had a blast and loved jumping off it into the water. Sydnie recently started swimming on her own unassisted and is so jazzed about that. The other kids at the pool had fun with her new floaty too. She was nice to share. We played at the adjacent park for a bit too and while we were there poor Emma fell through the drains that go around the pool. She got cut up and scraped and bruised pretty bad so we even had to fill out an incident report and they wrapped and bandaged her up. Upon looking at it after, we noticed lots of the pieces were broken and not spaced out evenly. Sad, but she's a toughie. Then we went home to shower and change and Sydnie requested Artic Circle kids meals for dinner. We had fun there and told Sydnie what we loved about her. Covey said he likes that she plays with him, Lucy said she likes that she has a great imagination, Cal said he likes that she says funny things, Emma said she likes to joke around with her, Mom said she likes how she's a great friend to everyone, and Dad said she is a great snuggler and hugger. Back at home, we played pin the horn on the unicorn outside and then it got pretty windy so we went inside to ring around the unciron horn. Lucy won both games, go Luce! Everyone had fun. Then we did cake. Sydnie started bawling during the birthday song because we were singing "Ryerse style" where everyone belts out loud and however they want and in whatever timing the song. Sydnie was crying and saying Covey was being too loud and we ruined her birthday song. So we sang it again nicely while she calmed down, but it doesn't take much for her face to get red and splotchy after crying. Her unicorn cake she was excited about. She helped make it, and so did Cov, Lucy and Emma. Emma did the fondant details on the cake. Turned out pretty well! Then it was present time. Sydnie got a couple new outifts, sand toys, her unicorn floaty, a bug catching set and a Polly Pocket set which she was so thrilled with! It was a unicorn pinata on the outside and when you opened the bottom, surprises and confetti came out. She and Lucy played a ton with that and their other Polly Pocket sets. Her Grandparents and some cousins also called. She said at the end of the day her brothers and sisters made it a good day for her. They really do go the extra mile to take care of each other and help each other, even if she is acting spoiled sometimes they say. It was a magical day with lots of smiles and fun. She went to bed snuggling in our bed and had a smile on her face as she fell asleep from the great birthday she had!

Sydnie is a little tease! We always call her a teaser because she loves to tease in a joking way with others.
She is a great friend, to family and friends and even strangers. Her preschool teachers said they appreciated her because she was a friend to everyone and helped others gel well together. She often tells her siblings they are her best friends. And she always wants to play with friends.
Syds loves being outside doing anything and loves insects and animals. She has such a wonder and curiosity about nature.
Enjoys reading and going to the library for story time. She likes to read the same books over and over.
