Lots of April Fools Pranks up my Sleeve

 We had a funny April Fools Day this year.  None of the kids really got into it, but I did.  I wrapped Dave's phone up in rubber bands so when he woke up to use it, he couldn't access it until he got all of the bands off.  We put some mustard in the kid's travel sized toothpaste bottles.  They were not amused and thought that was the grossest thing ever. i told Emma earlier that it was ten to 8 when she needed to leave, so she quickly and tiredly got up.  For my preschool class, I had the boy who was the helper put the sit spots that they usually sit on on the rug put them on the walls, ceilings, high on the furniture.  Then we told the kids "Go sit on your sit spot on the TV" or "Your sit spot is on the wall, go get on it please."  He thought it was hilarious and said "Best prank ever!"   Cov's teacher made them brown E's (cut out letter E's from brown construction paper...but then gave them real brownies, she was sweet), Lucy's teacher joked about a fake quiz and Cal and Em's band teacher had them convinced they were going to have to attend school an extra 2 weeks to make up for all of the Wednesday time they lots this year.  On the drive down to Utah that we left that day, I made the classic Oreos with toothpaste to bring as a snack to give them.  They were all so excited until they took bites, amused but not.  Sydnie liked it and kept eating, haha, so we had to take it from her and exchanged the toothpaste Oreos for another snack.  The best part of the day, I kept pulling out pranks for everyone else, but no one got me!!  ;)  

Wrestle Mania

 The kids finished out the wrestling season.  They practiced hard (and volunteered hard in Emma's case) and really enjoyed it.  Most of the 3 month season was practicing and they are getting pretty good!  The coaches and board of Stillwater Wrestling Club have been amazing!  Emma helped out with the little beginners (among which were lots of girls, which was fun) every practice, and Cal and Cove wrestled.  Covey loved each practice and said it was "epic"! Due to Covid, there weren't many tournaments, but a few.  We had one here, and the boys did well.  Cal won 1 lost 2.  Most of the kids in his division were a lot bigger than him as he was in the 115+.  More than anything, I am proud of his excellent sportsmanship.  He was always encouraging and gave his opponents hugs, not just handshakes, after winning or losing.  Covey won 3, lost one.  He ended up getting second place!  Sweet for his first tourney.  He and his buddies would go around with their arms around each other and cheer for each other, it was so cute.  Covey had a rough last match and actually passed out at the end.  He was crying because he hurt bad but snapped out of it pretty quick.  He did amazing because many of these kids have been wrestling since they could walk.  It was nice to cheer for them on our home turf!  Emma and Mom helped sell t-shirts and sold a lot.  We ended off the season with the Montana Open in Billings.  Wrestling clubs from WA, ND, SD, WY, ID and of course MT were attending so there were tons of kids.  There were 160 teams there and our club ranked 41st!  Sweet!  Cov started out in the morning, he lost, won, then lost again.  Not bad for his 2nd ever wrestling meet!  Cal was in the afternoon and had a bye, then wrestled a guy with "big boy muscles" and held him off for about 45 seconds before getting pinned.  This kid would go on to win second.  Even his coach didn't have any words of advice after, just that this guy was tough and there is nothing else you can do for those people. Cal's second match would've been on Sunday but he made the decision to go to church instead.  I loved hearing Cal give Cov pointers, talk and laugh together, and practice wrestling that day.  Dave and I also got lots of chatting time in, and we watched wrestling almost all day.  We also went to a cool park, got slushies, went to the skate park, and out to dinner (the boys picked Wendy's of all places).  The day was fun having them one on one with us and spending time with them.   They did a great job...they were wrestling maniacs for this short but sweet season!
