Let the games begin...Stoddard Family Olympics at Bear Lake

{Insert Olympic fanfare music here} We held our 3rd annual Stoddard family reunion in Bear Lake, and it was golden!

We broke up our 13 hour trip down and stayed in Bozeman one night.  This campground was so fun!  Sidewalk chalk, a pool (we didn't have time for), playground, sand toys for the kids, and it was well manicured and decorated.  It's nice to have our new quick set up tent that sleeps 12 and can fit 4 air mattresses in it!

When we arrived Thursday, the kids were so excited to be there!  We checked in at Bear Lake North hot springs (not my favorite spot...we chose it, but I think we'll stick with a classic next time) and then everyone started arriving.  The kids were especially excited when Grandma Di showed up.  We had all our Stoddard crew there, plus Grammie, Aunt Christie & Rex.  We had walking tacos for lunch and got all set up.  We decorated some flags and torches for our Olympic ceremonies and chatted.  Then we left to see "Juanito Bandito" at Pickleville Playhouse.  It was hilarious and the kids keep doing the dab (posing like he and his crew did in the movie), quoting it and telling each other they will cut them up like a stinky burrito.  Haha!  Then we went to Firehouse pizza for dinner.  It was yum and fun to sit outside.  So great to be all together again!  We made some s'mores, the best we could do without an open fire.  There were huge meteor showers going on so we stayed up and watched some, it was cool!  We left the window unzipped and watched as we were laying down in our tent.

Friday morning, we had breakfast burritoes courtesy of Am & Kolby, then went to Minnetonka Cave.  It was fun going again and the kids loved the bats and all of the neat formations, like the Kevin the bacon and the seven dwarfs.  We also saw some wildlife outside of the cave.  We came back to the campsite and had loaded fries for lunch, then we hit the beach.  We loved soaking up the sun, swimming, digging (Lucy was working on making a man trap (?) hahah!), finding little sea shells, rowing in kayaks, playing beach soccer, squirting each other with water guns and watching the seagulls.  Perfect afternoon!   It was Grammie's and Covey's birthday, so we had hot dogs for dinner that my parents put together, which is Cov's favorite and a huge treat.  The kids made cards for him and Grammie, which was fun.  Then we had a Minion Party (more about that later in Cov's birthday story).  It was a blast!  We went to the hot pools that night and soaked up that sulfury goodness.  We stayed up late that night and just chatted.  We laughed so hard we were crying and sometimes got serious.  I am so thankful for my siblings and our parents.  Though we are far from perfect, we get along very well for the most part and love each others.  Awww!

The last day, we woke up, cleaned and packed up.  Then we had our own silly Olympics.  We did a synchronized snack toss, beach ball volleyball, beach knock out, ribbon twirling, and more.  It was so fun!  That ended things up.  We had a blast!

I love my family and am so thankful for each and every member of our team!
