Coverton is 8 and turtely awesome!

Coverton just turned 8!  As he is such a turtle lover, he decided he wanted that to be his theme this year. He got a friend birthday this year and was so excited about that. Covey is a great friend and makes friends easily. He often tells us he's one of the popular kids at school, lol! So he had a hard time trimming down his list, and most were able to make it (except his crush Avery, whose Dad got called in to help fight a fire).

He woke up fist pumping and running around the house because he was so excited and just kept saying how he couldn't believe his birthday was here. It was adorable!  That morning, I had to teach a few lessons but he watched some Mark Rober and roller coaster videos on YouTube. We had pizza for lunch and got all ready for his party.

The friends arrived and we played some games with water balloons, like roll the turtle eggs and hot potato. We did a little craft next where the kids got to paint some wooden turtles. They turned out pretty cute and I loved seeing the creativity at work. Carter even made one for Cov with a birthday message on it, sweet!  Then the kids went to town on the slip 'n slide, the pool, the trampoline, played with water guns. We had some snacks - chips, a veggie tray (turtle food, which they ate up!), and some watermelon and grapes (turtle eggs). Then we went on a turtle hunt. I hid some plastic turtles in the yard and they were all able to find two. They really enjoyed that, traded turtles, named them, played with them a lot, started a turtle hospital. This was pretty cute. Next, it was cake time.  Cov kept saying how cute the cake was, he loved it and so did everyone else. He got to light his own candles this year and was pretty jazzed about that. After that, it was presents time. He got $65, an RC car, some walkie talkies, Legos, a game, and a few more things from friends, and a bike (he got it a little early), a survival activity book, a ukelele book from us. He gave all of his friends hugs when he opened their presents. Then we played outside a bit more, and some of them stayed and we played longer. He gave them all a little goody bag with some candy (including Turtles, yum!), some turtle stickers, and bubble gum. It was a fun party!

After his party, we went to McDonalds, because he wanted to try a Big Mac for his birthday. He was a fan!  We took the food to the park and ate and then played at the park until 9! Back home, he had a sleepover with Hunter. They played with his toys, played Sing Star/Guitar Hero, watched part of the Incredibles, and built Legos. It was a full day and I think he smiled all day long.

At bedtime, he said "I just feel so much older now!"  Haha!  What a fun boy. He also kept telling me thanks for a great birthday and giving me big hugs throughout his day. We love him to death!

Moroni's Quest

We took Cal and Emma to their first ever youth conference church camp this year!  The theme was Moroni's Quest and it was a stake function they held up in Red Lodge. They have had some get togethers with their Tribes, about 8 kids and 2 adults in each.  They have made things in preparation of Quest, gotten to know their Tribes better, etc. This was an event based on all the Book of Mormon.  They did lots of skits, got rained on lots, had reenactments of the battles, had a walk to the tree of life, participated in a testimony meeting, played some really fun games and ate some great food. Their testimonies grew and we are thankful they had a good time and thankful fort the power of the Book of Mormon in our lives!  After, Emma got to give a talk in sacrament meeting about what happened. She did awesome!

While the kids were away, we still played. We had a picnic in Red Lodge after dropping them off and played in the river. The kids found a minnow and brought it home, they were so proud!  I took the kids to Billings, we had an oil change and watched TV and read at the dealers, went to the park, got Crumbl cookies, took Cov to a birthday party at Get Air while the girls and I went to Staggering Ox for lunch, then shopping at Ross and Walmart, then we played at the mall playground. We had a sleepover with Callie, the kids had a ball and especially loved when her grandma came over with all her puppies!  We went on a bike ride, went to the park, watched a movie, did a reading party, and of course cleaned (always cleaning with these dang showings of our house). Great week but we are so glad they got back!
