End of School Excitement

There's something about those last few weeks of school.  So much excitement in the air!

Covey had a kindergarten program.  The kids were so cute and excited to show off what they learned.  They sang and danced and did their parts so well.  "Make Some Noise" was probably my favorite and adorable how they sang it!  Covey has been blessed to have had Mrs. Buffy Chamberlin, she's amazing!  As were our kid's other teachers, Mrs. Denyse Vanek for Lucy and Mrs. Joni Haug for Callahan.  I was totally crying though, feeling so thankful for the great year they've had and how much these teachers love our littles.

Lucy had her first Irish dance recital with Stillwater Irish Dance.  She loved getting all dolled up for the occasion and loved dancing.  She was in two numbers and really had a great first year of Irish Dance.  SHe danced to Bonfire. She can't wait to get back to it again! She's always trying to teach us at home and come up with new routines and loved performing at her recital. 

Callahan had his elementary music concert. He has really loved school this year. He recently had the 4th/5th grade music concert and I wasn't cringing during the recorder songs, they actually were pleasant to the ears! And they sang some fun songs.  Cal also just received his Webeloes advancement for Scouts and is so close to his Arrow of Light and will earn that soon. Good job, bud!

We went to a middle school band concert with our favorite band member! Her favorite song to play was Bohemian Rhapsody. They sure had fun with the music at this one and this girl is still loving the trumpet and doing so well!  It's been a good year for her and although she has struggled a bit finding her place in middle school and her friends, she is well respected all around.  

All of the kids participated in our piano recital.  In January, I added 8 students, so now I have 12 including my four fave students. It was a classics to contemporary theme, so they all played a classical piece and anything from recent years.  They all had fun and did so well and it's a pleasure teaching them all! Emma played The Spinning Song and Mortal Kombat, Callahan played March Militaire and Blues Riff, Lucy played Spring and Banana Boat Song and Covey played the Hallelujah Chorus and Twinkle, Twinkle.

The day before school got out, we had field day - woot woot!  The kids loved all the events and got pretty competitive.  Sydnie enjoyed running around the track, too. They had an obstacle course, relay, football throw, long jump, running races, and pole vault without the pole.  After they had hot dogs that were cooked by the principal.  Fun day for them!

We made some little arrow key chains and gave necklaces to their teachers and some gift cards for the last day.  They loved them!  On Emma's report card, the teachers who commented said how much they've enjoyed having Emma in class.  And she has really enjoyed all of her teachers. Mrs. Haug keeps telling us how much she's appreciated Cal's thirst for knowledge, participation in class and kindness.  Mrs. Vanek loves the way Lucy reads and expresses herself.  And Mrs. Chamberlin loved how quickly Cov caught on to everything, how he was always on task and said she will miss his smile and jokes next year.  

Last day of school, we went to an assembly at the elementary school.  Cal was in the top bracket for Accelerated Reading points, and he even won a bike.  He won a bike last year, too!  Lucky guy!  He also got a good attendance award.  Lucy got an award from Mrs. Vanek for her hard work, even when things got hard.  Em got an honor roll award, math award, and an IXL award.  We had to take last day of school pictures to compare them first to the last...you can see how less and less cooperative they are as they get older, lol! It has really been a fantastic school year for all of our kids and we are thankful for their amazing teachers and staff! 

We had a party on the last day of school here as we usually do.  All of the kids got to invite a few friends.  They all got new sunglasses, made some paper plate fans, ate snow cones, did a sidewalk chalk contest, chased each other and played a few games.  It's getting crazy as they get a little older and they're all in school and get to invite friends now, but always something they look forward to.  Emma had Alyssa, Brylee, and Emily over, Cal had Casten and Davis, and Leland, Lucy had Lauren and Summer and Covey had Ledger and Carter.  They had fun and it's a fun way to start off summer!
